      The Primada Cathedral of Toledo

      DETAILS:

      EN VISITA NOCTURNA PRIVADA

“Entering the Cathedral of Toledo, is to penetrate the heart of the city”

Toledo Cathedral is the most classic and pure 13th-century Gothic building in its forms and lines. With special permission from the Cathedral Council we will visit the temple privately, flooded with light and beauty.

Strolling through its artistically lit ships, visiting its small museums, Choir, Main Sacristy, Chapter House and Treasury, is to soak up the whole history of art in the city and live an unforgettable experience.

      CAPILLA MOZÁRABE

“The emotion of submerging the atmosphere of sacredness and beauty, in the silence of the afternoon”

Privileged place where the cult persists in the ancient Mozarabic rite and where time has stopped. The work of Cardinal Cisneros, among whose exploits the conquest of Oran, an incredible feat of the infantry and the nascent Spanish artillery, is presented in the painting.

      LA CAPILLA DE SANTIAGO

The only one that remains in the hands of the nobility, owned by the Duke of Infantado and is the Pantheon of Don Álvaro de Luna, and his wife Doña Constanza. A story of hate that ends in death and an incredible love story in the wife that rehabilitates the fame and honor of the executed.

      EL TRANSPARENTE

Amazing. The boldness of breaking the vault to get a stream of light on the tabernacle of the main altar. Image of the baroque burst carved in marble, superimposed like a second skin on the medieval walls. A cascade of figures and shapes with incredible effects and impossible movements.

      LA CUSTODIA

The jewel par excellence of the cathedral treasure. Fruit of devotion to the Eucharist and charity to the poor of the Queen. Recently restored, it shines in its solid gold and its original silver, and fascinates by the small work of its images and precious stones. A celestial Jerusalem that walks every year, among clouds of incense, in the Great Festival of the city.

      EL OCHAVO

The most sumptuous, hidden and sacred room in the entire temple is called the Ochavo, due to the ochavada shape of its plant. Covered with bright red marbles, it is the Sancta Santorum, sacrarium or reliquary of the Cathedral. To get into it is to be stunned in the mist of its dim light and the sweet smell of incense, among precious relics, and feel the sacred.

      CLAUSTRO

The great Gothic Cloister is a great space promoted by the 14th century archbishop Pedro Tenorio, builder of bridges, hospitals, castles and walls. For his eternal rest, a chapel was reserved at an angle: the chapel of San Blas, and he wanted it to be decorated by the most revolutionary painter of his time: Giotto himself.

Crossing your threshold is traveling to Italian Tuscany in the middle of Trecento. The disciple of Giotto, Starnina, has starred in the only case of the Florentine Gothic in Castile, painting a universe of color and people that amaze us.

EN EL CORO DE LA CATEDRAL

“A unique sound, an unforgettable experience”

      Exclusive organ concert

Among the ten organs guarded by the Cathedral, the Berdalonga neoclassical organ contains 6,000 tubes with all shades, powers and coloratures, and a horizontal battle or pipe capable of making the stones vibrate. A proven repertoire of sacred music performed by the Chapel Master of the Primate Cathedral to overwhelm and thrill.

EL EXPOLIO DEL GRECO EN LA SACRISTÍA MAYOR

The Sacristy Major, which continues to fulfill its role as a wardrobe, is one of the most important art galleries in Spain. More than a dozen works by El Greco, the painter of innovation and passion. Paradigm of overcoming difficulties and misunderstandings, he opted for his differentiation and personal style and picked up the triumph of his passion for color, culminating in the famous Expolio that presides over this great space.

      CENA EXCLUSIVA

      IN DOMESTIC STAYS CATHEDRALITIES

After the welcome drink in the Cloister, Queen Isabel’s hidden rooms welcome us to give us one of the most impressive impressions: to look out at the Queen’s balcony and contemplate the interior of the Cathedral at a great height. The space continues surprising. There we will find the atmosphere ready to enjoy a gala dinner. A unique place: on the medieval vaults that fly over gothic stone buttresses and surrounded by the walls that house the original stained glass windows. An immersion in the Gothic, an exciting experience.
